I don't think that asking for a portable Mafell chain mortiser would be too much.
But it could also be one of those requests that get frowned upon from the superintendent..
Actually I think I need a thickness planer more.

Cheers
JonasJonas Jensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07787393233185454227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3111753163359491070.post-39589817002157333372018-05-25T08:03:51.253-07:002018-05-25T08:03:51.253-07:00I think you need to talk the ship into buying a ch...I think you need to talk the ship into buying a chain mortiser, since you are doing woodwork for them now.Brian Evehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04252174035715635674noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3111753163359491070.post-39497894290211923542018-05-25T05:40:31.286-07:002018-05-25T05:40:31.286-07:00Hi Mitchell

And sadly much less accurate.

I think that perhaps if I had placed the two pieces next to each other, one of them would have supported the bed of the circular saw and allowed me to make a more vertical cut.
But I know that for next time.

Brgds
Jonas

Jonas Jensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07787393233185454227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3111753163359491070.post-54690646925071098102018-05-25T03:47:10.565-07:002018-05-25T03:47:10.565-07:00First, you fire the crewman who threw away the fen...First, you fire the crewman who threw away the fence for the circular saw; second, you buy a replacement.
At first I was horrified at the thought of using a circular saw for ripping. Did you use a rip cut blade? And then I thought that you must have set the depth and just half the thickness and done two passes. Right? I still don't know how you did or how I would manage to hold the stock for a second pass. Am I close to how you managed this task?Potomackerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02047837559244141708noreply@blogger.com
