My own phone can't do that sort of things.

Brgds
JonasJonas Jensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07787393233185454227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3111753163359491070.post-8998081964992521552015-02-19T13:15:25.508-08:002015-02-19T13:15:25.508-08:00Hi Jonas,

There is indeed always a hacksaw on the ship, but the kerf is a bit wide when sawing with one.
CS once told me that a decent saw could be made from a plaster scraper (I think that's what he called it) You know one of those you buy for spreading plaster or filler thin on a wall. The steel plate is tin and it is cheap, so if the filing goes wrong, you haven't destroyed an heirloom saw.

I am not sure if I'll have to punch holes, or if they can be drilled. I guess it depends on how hardened the steel is.

Brgds
Jonas Jonas Jensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07787393233185454227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3111753163359491070.post-36004568839119037422015-02-17T19:33:14.823-08:002015-02-17T19:33:14.823-08:00Very impressive packing! There seems to always be a hacksaw onboard your ship. You could be fancy and have two. One filed rip and one filed crosscut.

GregAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3111753163359491070.post-66876152835047064102015-02-17T12:57:27.730-08:002015-02-17T12:57:27.730-08:00Hi Bill.

It is just a bit bigger than a shoe box, I think a scaled up version would look great, the problem is that I don't really need any more boxes or chests at the moment.
Maybe I should make another small cabinet next time. One that I could use for the tools for the metal lathe at home.

I could also try to make my own dovetail saw. That way I could make a short one that would fit in the chest.
I would have to think of a way to make a folded back for the saw, but on the other hand it would probably just add some more weight.

Brgds
JonasJonas Jensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07787393233185454227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3111753163359491070.post-30916929627499491352015-02-17T12:50:24.693-08:002015-02-17T12:50:24.693-08:00Hi Andy.

That hadn't crossed my mind.
Actually I tried to mask the area with some tape, but still paint crept under it.
But removing the little paint will definitely be easier than repainting the area.
I don't know what I'll build next time, but I'll start thinking about it.
Brgds JonasJonas Jensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07787393233185454227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3111753163359491070.post-10662811023531050662015-02-17T08:13:16.631-08:002015-02-17T08:13:16.631-08:00With a photo of filled chest I can see that it is ...With a photo of filled chest I can see that it is smaller than I originally thought it was, and that seems like a good thing in your case. You have packed a lot of tools into a small space. I can only imagine what you will build onboard now. You could use a scraper to get the paint off the inside edge, couldn't you?
