Darrel LaRu ( http://tmaking.wkfinetools.com/02-planes/spill_Plane/Spill_Plane1.asp ) writes that he uses a No 3 smoothing plane iron, and that it is a bit on the narrow side. I have several old plane irons at home that never see any use. Some of the other designs I have seen requires the blade to be skewed, so that means a lot of grinding.
I am considering making a plane of the same design as Leo from Italy did: http://www.legnofilia.it/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=18225
The major difference is that the blade is mounted using a screw instead of a wedge.
Brgds
JonasJonas Jensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07787393233185454227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3111753163359491070.post-83178657564112312542017-01-24T11:26:37.463-08:002017-01-24T11:26:37.463-08:00Hi Jeremy.

Except for the time I made some dovetail saws.
I once tried to restore some old planes, but I never seem to get around to use that stuff later on, so I think I'll stick with making pallet wood boxes of some sorts.
On the other hand I might make another spill plane at some point.

Brgds
Jonas
Jonas Jensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07787393233185454227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3111753163359491070.post-75516747388161407062017-01-24T10:55:48.176-08:002017-01-24T10:55:48.176-08:00Awesome work!
