Started a business today

After thinking about it for many years, I started a business today together with Gustav.

The business is called Hest & Hus ApS, meaning Horse & House ltd.

Our major plan is to invest in a house that we can refurbish and then rent it out. But given that we are now officially a company also means that we can legitimately sell labour such as in carpentry jobs or woodwork projects or leatherwork projects.

The idea is that since we both have a regular income, we are planning on letting all the money we make in the company stay there for further development of the company.

The hardest thing for me is to accept that I am helping financing the Danish society with all its flaws. But so be it..

    1. Thanks Joe.
So far it has been getting all the paperwork done in legally starting the business up, getting a business account at the bank etc. etc. I am going back to sea tomorrow, so Gustav will take over the starting up part while I am away. I can't wait to get back again in a month or so, and start working with the business for real :-)
My wife just told me that a friend of hers who was visiting last Saturday had asked if my wife thought that I could perhaps make a shelf that could work as a room divider in her living room. That would be a fantastic project to do. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that.

    1. Hi Bob

Thanks a lot. We are planning on having fun with the business :-) It is just the start up that is a bit troublesome.
I also choose to see it as a great way of helping Gustav, so that he will know how to start his own carpenter company in a couple of years.

    1. Hi Pedder

Well I also choose to see it more as supporting Gustav and helping him on how to start his own business when he becomes a fully trained carpenter. and less as supporting the Danish society.
I really had to struggle to not name the company VEB Pferd Haus. :-)
We chose that name because we figured that it would signalize that we can do jobs both for the horse and for the house, so I can do repair jobs on saddles and horse blankets etc. and we can repair things for the house, and we also rent out a house (at least that is the plan).

    1. Hi Bill

Thanks a lot for the kind words.
I really hope that it will be a success too, but since I get to do stuff with my family - it already is a success :-)

I am really looking forward to coming home this time, since it seems as we won that house that we bid on at a closure auction. So that will be really interesting to get started.
